The great secret of Amala Aikaram

The five elements earth, water, air, fire, and space are called the five “kaars” (elements). “Kaar” means heat – diminishing. Diminishing is called fire. Fire is the source – the central ruler. The five elements together are called unity.

This Aikaaram (Om sound) will always be in effect. It will possess movement as time progresses. Because of that movement, it constantly resonates without ceasing. Hence, this Aikaaram was referred to as Veda by the sages with supreme knowledge. The form of the divine is indeed the pure form. This was described by our ancestors as the primordial entity, as Adhi (the beginning), and as the essence of Shiva. The divine’s sacred feet are considered the primordial ancient relic.

This Omkara itself is the divine feet of Guru Nathar Nandi, who embodies the wisdom of truth. It possesses the capability to create whatever it desires without diminishing in power and to absorb what it has created back into itself. It contains all potentials within itself. This primeval, immaculate Omkara – which is fivefold (Panchakaram – Panchakkaram – Panchakkaram – Panchaksharam) – is endowed with expansive completeness. This is referred to as Vyapakam. The fundamental cause of everything is considered to be Pathi.

In the unified whole, each element is distinctly individualized, combined, and distributed to form what we term as our soul. This is what is referred to as the “Pasam” (bond). In its pervasive state, manifesting as the functioning element in its physical form is known as “Thirodhanam.” This is what is referred to as the “Pasu” (individual soul). Pathi (God) – Pasu (soul) – Pasam (bond) are eternally existing concepts. These are entities that exist without a beginning.

Intelligence is eternal knowledge.

Wisdom is the answer to knowledge, eternity

The affectionate bond built on wisdom is eternal.

The source of wisdom determines one’s birth itself (Thiruvalluvar).

From the influence of this immaculate essence, which has separated and combined, when the soul that has spread cannot independently return to reconnect with the aforementioned immaculate essence, it is due to the lack of awareness. Therefore, the prime immaculate essence, manifesting as the form of sound called the Veda, addresses the soul that has separated and combined into the impure nature—so that it can return to itself. As the perfect Veda permeates itself in the form of sound, it continuously calls out, saying, “You have departed from me. But, do not go too far. Do not wander far and become bewildered. You do not know the path you have traveled so far. Therefore, you have taken this wrong path. Do not follow any other mistaken path. Do not enter another erroneous path. Do not enter. Turn around and come back along this path, come, come and merge back into me,” it continuously calls out tirelessly as a sound form. It continuously resonates without stopping. It perpetually keeps up its eternal dance.

The aforementioned primordial, immaculate, singular five letters are the five sacred syllables – Panchakshara – the divine feet of the supreme being. This enigmatic syllable resonates softly, perpetually, dancing and swaying at the heart of the Arur lotus. Saints like Tirunavukkarasar, Tirugnanasambandar, Manikkavasagar, and others, our revered ones, through their divine hymns—Thevaram, Thiruvasagam, Thirumandiram, and other spiritual scriptures—have indirectly revealed this sacred, primordial syllable as “Namachivaya” and “Sivaya Nama”, without explicitly voicing it. These great sages have subtly conveyed these rare, profound Vedic truths. Given that, what can we, mere mortals of limited understanding, elaborate further? Nonetheless, I share with you here just a few aspects that have resonated with my limited comprehension and experiential insight. That is all.

In this world, presence and pervasiveness are things that have always existed. Presence refers to a stationary place. That is, a place that remains in motion without actually moving. The endpoint of presence and the beginning of pervasiveness is the place called ‘Iruvinai’ (two actions), which exists without body and soul, meaning it stands in balanced equilibrium. The center point of completeness is a place, which, without tilting to any side and without any apparent external movement, remains balanced and moves without moving, signifying internal movement. Within that center, it shows fullness. Showing the fullness is indeed the fullness itself. That fullness is Shiva. Fullness itself is the immaculate “Aikaram”. From this immaculate “Aikaram”, the fullness divided and spread through Panchikarana to become this universe. The spread universe possesses faults. The faults are because it is formed from the division of fullness. Before dividing and spreading, it existed as the pervasive “M”. This is both the beginning and the end. It is called the beginning because it is the origin of the spread. It is called the end because it is the conclusion of the pervasiveness. Only the letter “Makaram” has inner motion. It has the Kounarik movement. From this, when the fullness separated and diversified to become pervasive, and when the pervasive motion was acquired, through that motion, numerous sounds and echoes expanded. The pervasive motion was referred to as Aryam; and the pervasive was termed Tamil.

Husband, cow, and affection fall within enveloping and permeating categories. The enveloper is the husband; the permeater is the cow. Affection encompasses both of these. The attainment of the place from which fullness separated and became permeate is what is called liberation. Due to permeation, fullness becomes differentiated. Differentiation is a flaw—impurity—uncleanliness—deficiency. This is what is referred to as affection. Due to the separation from completeness, the soul, which has become impure and pervasive, achieving purity and returning to the place of comprehensive separation and pervasiveness is done in the following way: It must behold and cling to the Lord, who resides in the body as Veda form – atomic form – seed form, and thus attain redemption and fulfillment by holding steadfastly to those holy feet – those divine lotus feet of the Lord. How can one behold the lotus feet of the Father dancing in the central hall of Aroor Pangasa? How can one grasp them? Where is Aroor located? Doesn’t it have to be within our own bodies? To commit a crime is itself a transgression. “Asam” means mud. Dirty means that in the place of polluted mud, the seed of the lotus called “Pankaja” has been planted, and although that seed remained within the crime-filled mud, the pure heat known as spotless fire, untouched by the mud, nurtured and bloomed within it.

The seed, after taking nourishment, sprouted, grew, and flourished, emerging from the impurity and appearing immaculate. Similarly, within the impure mud-body where “Panka” (mud/error) and “Asam” (mud) blend, the hidden seed-like “Asan” – Guru – Siva, which remains hidden yet ever-present, known as the Asan, when the body is perfected through yogic practices, is rapidly realized and grasped through the process of quintuplication.

Therefore, if a person follows the guru’s path diligently and attains progress, he will reach fulfillment. Attaining fulfillment means reaching the divine feet of the Lord, which blooms like a lotus within one’s head. This is what the Vedas refer to as the hidden divine feet.

Mud represents the earth, and the sun signifies heat. Fire exists above water. However, fire cannot take shape without air. Air, in turn, is found in the sky. Therefore, when the five elements, known as Pancha Bhoota, combine with impurities in their physical form, it becomes clear to us that we can witness the divine lotus feet of Lord Shiva dancing in the midst of Arur Pangka’s place.

Sea of Salt – The Body – The Position – The Salt – Removing the impurities from the salt and reaching the guru in the midst of it, balancing the salt and water is called attaining mupu. This attainment of mupu, the guru’s guidance, is not a simple task. Understanding the weight of the guru’s body, recognizing the nature of its movements, acknowledging the actions, and performing the prescribed rituals accurately, experiencing the facets in their entirety, assimilating them through the process of Panchaikarana, and consuming – thereby reaching the aforementioned divine sound – the Veda, the devoted followers attain purity in their bodies – eliminating impurities and faults – transforming into a state of immaculate purity. This is what Thirumoolar says.

Our simple argument is our Easan.

Clear Othi Shivaya Nama Enum

He will turn lead into gold with a pill. (Thirukkural 2659)

Those who lack true realization will consider our foremost deity, Sivaperuman, as simple and engage in mere words. They are ones who have completely forgotten the moral conduct that says ‘fraud and argument cause pain.’ Wordplay – argument. He is the great light of wisdom that provides light to all light and continues to shine inherently. Those who think of him with great love and continuously have a melting heart for him are Shivadiyars (devotees of Shiva). They are elucidated by the divine grace of Siva Guru and incessantly chant the sacred five-letter mantra ‘Sivayanama.’ By doing so, Sivaperuman, with that profound mantra, transforms that individual and their body into what resembles pure gold. This means he bestows grace by making that soul and body into Shiva. Kuligai: An exquisite instrument that turns iron into gold. ‘Sivayanama’ is the (2550) subtle scripture to be upheld in the path of penance. (A. C.) Ponnaakuvan Kootai – The body shines like gold. Pills – have been blessed with the mantra.

The pill known as “Shivaya Nam” is indeed the pure sound of Aikaar. The transformation of impure physical elements into pure physical elements is what is referred to as turning into gold. The pill known as “Shivaya Nam” is indeed the pure sound of Aikaar – with pure radiance, it transforms our impure physical body into a golden body; it converts decayed flesh into flourishing flesh. It kicks away the impure form of death and leads one onto the path of no return. The following authoritative verses illustrate this.

“The one who pierced the form of the mentioned Krauncha pair”

The sun loved the flower chain in the chest of Kadamba forest, silently.

Understanding you endlessly, embracing all with an unperturbed nature

I had forgotten myself, this body is as good as dead (Kandalankaram-19)

The fertile fields of Kadamba, lush with red soil, were destroyed.

“Maalpattu azhinthathu poongodiyar mana maamayilon”
“The grandeur has faded away, the peacock-like one of the delicate ones’ mind”

The fortress was destroyed; Velayudhan and Sooran were defeated, and Vellumavan prevailed.

“The door was shattered here, said the hand-written sign of the upper-storey dweller.”

Hearing the sound of the pure ‘Aikāra’ which resonates like the sacred bull Nandi – before our Lord, the reverberating drum – that master – our Lord – the supreme leader – the great protector should be sought in every way possible, with sincere purpose, and must be searched within one’s heart.

Just as clouds can obscure the sun and the moon, ignorance can cloud one’s innate desires within the physical body. This impurity is known as malice – defect – attachment – dirt. This remains deeply intertwined with purity. When one persistently nurtures the pure fire of aspiration, known as divine contentment, that impurity gradually separates itself from the purity and stands aside. The aspiration itself takes the form of the fire of wisdom, dispelling that impurity – darkness – ignorance. When it is dispelled in this manner, divine vision is realized. This is the essence of Arur.

Considering that the exuberance of Thiruvarur Lord (Emperuman) is achievable solely through his grace and following his teachings, assuming it to be achievable through self-effort is ignorance. Thirumoolar graced us with the words, “Without Him, I wouldn’t know the way to the towns.” Those who are endowed with such divine knowledge (Brama Jnanis) humbly identify themselves as mere servants. Thampiran Thozhar, with their grace, proclaimed, “I am a servant to all those born in Thiruvarur.”

Our ancestors referred to the process of removing the impurity from the body as “Nandi Vilakuthal” or “Maadu Vilakuthal.” These are metaphorical expressions with deeper meanings. Take a closer look at the truth that Nandanar received the divine sight of Shiva after Nandi moved aside. This cow represents the impure physical body, which stands as an obstacle in front of the divine presence, obscured by the pure light of Nandi. Due to the inherent nature and qualities of the soul and its attachments, both inner and outer connections arise. These are often veiled and discussed by the learned ones. To put it succinctly, this can be termed as body-consciousness. The concept of body-consciousness, or body-awareness, serves as the seed for the notion of “I.” It is from this that many misfortunes have emanated.

The body itself is Nandi. It is this body that hides the Lord (Ishwara) from us. If this body ceases – that is, if its memory fades – changes – if blessed by the grace of the Lord – if Nandi’s light is seen, then great divine vision – Aroor’s vision is attained, so declare the Vedas. To achieve this state, divine grace is essential. For this, one must follow the manner prescribed and taught by the Guru. By doing so, all karmas, in all their forms, leave the body and disappear.

The karmas accumulated over countless births, which have the potential to sprout, come to an end through mild experiences owing to the grace of the divine parents, thereby departing from the body-consciousness. By adhering to the instructions of the enlightened true Guru, discerning and integrating the initial elements, attaining the pure Aikyaara sound, those who do not transform the impurity dense into pure white are akin to those who do not possess the alchemical knowledge to turn impure physical density into pure gold powder. The statements made by people like “We have seen God,” “We have conquered death,” “We are at the door of liberation,” are nothing but empty words.

Those great sages who attained the pure Akashic sound through supreme wisdom, achieving a body of pure light, see the world and are revered, eventually reaching the true state of Saiva liberation. Thiruvasagam, Thirumanthiram, Auvai Gnanakurals, and Thevaram – all these have been describing the true state of supreme liberation achieved by those great enlightened ones through the ultimate wisdom, up to this day.

Based on what has been said so far, Amal Aykara is also Panchakaram. If the principles of Pathi, Pasu, and Pasa are combined with the fullness of a physical body, we will see the sacred lotus feet of our Father, Parameshwaran. The truth is that the sages who have attained the Amal Aykara sound through the highest knowledge of Brama will not fall as mere corpses but will subtly transform into the form of Brama Gnana Shakti and attain the true state of Brama Shaiva liberation.

I myself performed penance

Vansendha Naanmukaththoonum Thirunedumaalum Matrai

It is rare even for the Gods and the heavenly beings to attain the grace given by the divine benefactor of boundless blessings (Thiru Arutpa-2260)

Please listen to what is mentioned in the 556th page of the prose section by Vallarpperuman. “This human life is taken to receive the divine grace of Shiva. By any means of effort, one must obtain the grace of that Shiva. How does that grace come? – If we have compassion towards all beings, persistent aversion towards the universe, and unwavering love towards Shiva, that grace will come to us. We will attain it and live in ultimate bliss. This is the truth. Furthermore, to achieve the aforementioned goal, the penance of Shiva Panchakshara is the main cause. Therefore, one must meditate on it continuously with a pure heart.”

On the 560th page, “We are devoted to the sacred feet of Lord Shiva. We lack nothing in any way. This is the truth. Immortal. Immortal.” On the 561st page, “It is of utmost importance to continuously contemplate the Panchakshara mantra, which serves as a divine vessel in the Shaiva path, carrying us across the vast ocean of seventy births and leading us to the shore of supreme bliss. Equally important is to meditate upon the sacred feet of Lord Shiva.” On page 571, it states, “For us, in any way, there is no salvation or aid other than Lord Shiva’s divine feet and the Shiva Panchakshara. Therefore, we must continuously meditate on them.”

On page 587, “With the divine grace as a witness, my mind does not seem to desire anything other than the sacred feet.” On the 593rd page, “Do not abandon Shiva contemplation and compassion for living beings; let them flourish. Any other issues that arise will fundamentally change by the truth of association and dissociation, so remain vigilant.” On page 598, “Be vigilant in matters related to the body and remain in a state of Sivathyanam.”

The Vedas and Agamas are encompassed within these fifty-one letters. If these are deeply contemplated, they are said to be encompassed within the sacred five-letter mantra, according to Thirumoolar. This five-letter mantra is called the “Thoola Ayindthurai”. This same mantra was rendered by Manickavasagar as “Namashivaya Vazhga”.

Thirugnanasambandar proclaimed, “Nadhan’s name is Namashivaya”. Thirunavukkarasar affirmed, “Our good support is Namashivaya”. Thirugnanasambandar also stated, “Nandi’s name is Namashivaya”. The sacred five-letter mantra pervades the world, life, and the body. When deeply embedded within the mind, it is the five-letter mantra. It resides firmly within the bodily chakras. In order to fully understand these, one must learn from the wise who comprehend these mantras.

The sound we produce manifests as speech. Generally, we think that it arises from the throat. Anatomists inform us similarly. Our ancestors did not think this way. They said that sound, which is not perceptible to our ears, pervades within our body. This sound is in a subtle state from the Mooladhara (root chakra) to the stomach. From the stomach to the chest, it is somewhat audible, but blended with the consciousness. From the chest to the throat, it starts to mix with letters. Subsequently, above the throat, it rises as spoken sound.

In this way, the five letters that are pronounced by our mouth arise from the base of the body. They are born within our body as a sound beyond the sense of hearing and later emerge from the mouth as the sound “Namashivaya.” From this, we must understand that the divine name of the Lord arises within us fundamentally based on divine consciousness and emerges as spoken sound. We should listen, learn, practice, and reap the benefits from the experienced practitioners who possess knowledge about the subtle states of vibration and sound. Thirumoolar emphasizes that we should realize that this subtle five-syllable sound is present in our breath and the life-giving air we inhale. Our sacred feet have three channels: the right, middle, and left sides. The secretive path of the sacred five-syllable lies in the life-giving air passing inwardly and outwardly through these right and left channels. Thirumoolar suggests that we should perceive this and practice reciting the sacred five-syllable with our life-giving breath.

Sivayanama is the subtle five-lettered mantra. In it, ‘Si’ refers to Siva, ‘Va’ refers to Shakti, ‘Ya’ refers to the soul, ‘Na’ refers to impurity, and ‘Ma’ refers to illusion. Thirumoolar states that the subtle five-lettered mantra represents the divine power of the Supreme Being. By chanting the five letters, the five impurities which cause suffering—namely ego, karma, illusion, delusion, and concealment—are dispelled. Our deeds are eradicated. The threefold impurities of attachment, which are the cause of our birth and death, do not cling to the soul. When these threefold impurities are removed, the soul attains the nature of Shiva, transforming into the light of Shiva. Only then do the soul and Shiva become one. This is the state of immortality. Therefore, to you who are listening to this speech, we are revealing a profound spiritual secret from our lineage of gurus. Absorb it well into your being.

How should one recite this profound knowledge, the sacred five-letter mantra of Shiva? Thirumoolar states that the letters ‘Na’ and ‘Ma’ should be held within the throat region. The letters ‘Na’ and ‘Ma’ signify impurities. The letter ‘Si’ should be placed within the pupil of the eye. The letters ‘Si’ and ‘Va’ denote Shiva and Shakti. Therefore, this letter should be steadily placed within the radiance of the pupil. In other words, in our four inner faculties, the intellect that stands as the life for our soul should attain the sacred feet of the Lord who is life to life. We must fill that intellect not with various thoughts, but let it abundantly resonate with the name ‘Shiva’. If done so, the intellect will naturally subside at the feet of Shiva. Our karmic debts will be resolved. We will attain the divine grace of the Lord. Consequently, clarity about the divine truth will emerge. The light of wisdom will shine luminously in the mind. We can transcend the cycle of birth and death.

The Shiva secret that we are about to discuss amazed us so much when our Satguru spoke about it in Thammampatti village, that we went on a pilgrimage to Sadhuragiri Hills with him. To nullify the sensations of our body, to immobilize the mind and ultimately destroy it, so that Shiva’s divine arts continuously manifest throughout our consciousness, we received the extraordinary blessing of being initiated into this Shiva secret mantra. This too was a divine play orchestrated by the grace of the Guru and the divine favor.

One day, Guru asked us to come wearing only a loincloth. I stood before him wearing the loincloth. He asked us to bathe at the waterfall. I bathed and stood before him. He then instructed me to stand on that rock. I obeyed. It was about 12 or 1 in the afternoon. He asked, “Who are you?” Without thinking, I responded, “I am your disciple.” He asked, “Who is a disciple?” I replied, “A disciple is the child of Vaali.” He then asked, “Who is Vaali?” I explained, “Vaali is our soul.” He questioned further, “What is your soul?” I answered, “It is you.” Upon hearing this, our true Guru instantly ran towards me, embraced me, and shed tears. Until that moment, I had never seen our true Guru cry.

He said, “My son, only now are you worthy of absorbing the light and arts of the Brama into your soul. Brama and Shiva are not different; they are one. Both reside within your soul. You must destroy the five obstacles that prevent you from attaining wisdom using the powerful Brama Sukshma Shiva mantra and the bow of sight. Today, at this instant, I initiate you into the Brahmastra Shiva Panchakshara.”

As he began to implant that Shiva seed into my soul, my entire body started to tremble as if I was having seizures. This went on for about 15 minutes. Everywhere in my body, there was a pulsating, throbbing ecstasy, joy, and goosebumps; it felt like an electric current was flowing through me. Our Guru kept watching me without blinking. He made no effort to stop what was happening. I began to wonder if I was having a seizure.

As time passed, I felt a sense of calmness, an aroma as if flowers were blooming, and my body seemed to expand to nearly 50 feet, standing with thousands of arms extended like the sun. Astonished, I exclaimed to the Guru, “Guru, my body is expanding and feels like it’s about to burst!” Yet, he made no response or action. My body continued to expand. At one point, I was level with the top branches of a tree and could touch the branch with my hands. However, our Guru’s divine gaze remained steadily fixed only on the center of my being.

At one point, I let go of all my thoughts, concerns, and calculations, and focused intensely on absorbing the divine light coming from our Guru’s feet. At that very moment, I felt an explosion within me, a sense of my body bursting into fragments, leading to an overwhelming sensation of bliss. Despite this feeling, I kept my eyes fixed unwaveringly on the Guru’s divine feet.

Guru then said, “My son, receive this supreme Brama-knowledge Shiva Panchakshara,” and initiated me into the secret of the Brama-knowledge Panchakshara. After obtaining consent from our true Guru, I am here, striving to share this with you without holding back.

“Shiva Shiva Shiva Shiva Shivaya Namoh” This is the Brahmastra Shiva Panchakshara. Do not take this mantra lightly. Just as the five senses are unified by the perception of vision, this Brahmastra Shiva Panchakshara alone will sever your five impurities, cut off your birth cycle, purify your impure body into a pure one, and transform your flesh-bound body into a divine embodiment of great power. If you want to recite this Brahmastra Panchakshara, students who have received the Bramavidhya initiation should complete their five types of penance as instructed by their guru and recite this between 04:30 AM to 05:00 AM while standing within the light known in the essence of Akara Thiruvadi. It can be recited aloud or silently.

Devotees who have not received initiation should sit in front of a mirror, light a ghee lamp or an oil lamp, and while staring at the flame, recite this mantra. The time should be between 4:30 AM and 5:00 AM. Both parties can keep talking for as long as it takes.

For those who wish to overcome birth, for those who desire to attain wisdom, for those who want to see the essence of life, for those who wish to dissolve themselves with Shiva by revealing Shiva’s divine arts, this is the Brahmastra Shiva Panchakshara mantra. This mantra will grant you success in all matters governed by the truth you seek. This is the secret art of our ancient Tamil Siddhars. No matter what action you undertake or what difficulties you face, this mantra should never leave your body. Remember, this is the only mantra that will be rooted in your life force. This mantra will continually awaken your life. It is sufficient to chant this mantra whenever your life needs to stay awake. We chant it every moment in our life force. Rather than saying we chant it, our breath itself has become this mantra. Even if we do not think it or consciously chant it, it happens naturally. Even in sleep, the sound of this mantra continues to resonate. If this mantra’s sound continuously resonates, the life force cannot fall asleep. The life force will remain in Shiva’s pulse. To permanently transfer these vibrational waves into your life force, you must practice as mentioned above. Until now, this mantra had remained undisclosed to the world. Now we have revealed it.

If you wish to attain complete success in the meditation of supreme knowledge, try chanting this mantra. Your experience will be your reference and evidence.

Due to the advancing time, we conclude this speech here. We shall meet again in the next talk.

From the golden hall of divine knowledge, your Rudra Shivatha.

Hail Shiva who owns the southern lands

Praise be to God who is the Lord of all nations

Hail Namachivaya, Hail the feet of the divine master

May the blessings of the one who never departs from my heart even for a blink of an eye thrive.

May all beings live happily.
