Thirumandiram for Removing the Three Impurities
Thirumandiram for Removing the Three Impurities
First greetings to our nectar-like Tamil mother. I convey respects from the divine feet to all Tamil scholars and human beings, and with the blessings of our Sadguru, I am taking another pearl from the ocean of Thirumandiram nectar for all of you. Let’s dive into the next pot of nectar. The Thirumandiram verse we are exploring here falls under the title of meditation in the third Tantra. Here is the Thirumandiram:
Descending from the heavens, the body to refine,
Placing the cool feet on the head as protection,
Melting from within, unmatched bliss,
The eye shows and removes the impurities. (113)
This verse reveals a true experiential state in Brama Gnana penance. By standing in the eye, one can go inward. Going inward, one can hold the cool feet. Holding the cool feet, one can immerse in supreme bliss from the heavens and dissolve actions, says Thirumoolar.
This Thirumandiram should not be read from the first line. The experiential states in Brama Gnana penance are depicted by Thirumoolar upside down. If read as is, it leads to a wrong understanding. Therefore, we may not grasp the Brama Gnana taught by Thirumoolar.
Only by standing in the eyes will we know how to stand within. Only by standing properly within will we identify the cool feet. By identifying the cool feet filled with true realization, we will understand how to place them on the head as protection.
By practicing keeping the cool feet on the head, one can absorb the high electromagnetic life energies of the universe. With the heavenly energy, one can dissolve the actions causing human birth. Once actions are dissolved, impurities will turn to purity. Impurities are the three impurities: ego, illusion, and karma. Vallalar mentions five impurities: ego, illusion, great illusion, great delusion, and karma.
Do you understand why we advised reading the verse upside down? To dissolve actions with heavenly energy, we must hold the life energy with the cool feet. To do that, we must place the cool divine feet on the head as protection. Only by placing them on the head can we stand steadily in penance within. To stand steadily within, we must hold onto the divine feet, which are the eyes. Holding onto the divine feet, we must enter the inner wisdom entrance, where we can cut the three impurities blocking the path.
How to cut the three impurities? This can only be achieved through Brama Gnana penance. In Brama Gnana penance, the Chudarazhi penance is taught, aiming to tear apart the veils of impurities clouding the eyes using light energies.
Like focusing sunlight with a magnifying glass on a dry leaf, causing it to catch fire, in Chudarazhi penance, high electromagnetic solar light rays are focused through the eye lens onto the veils of impurities. When the heat reaches the level to tear apart the veils, the action veils start tearing. Hence, continuous practice of Chudarazhi penance is advised. The heat to tear the impurity veils must be generated in the penance, only then will the accumulated actions from various births dissolve.
A Guru’s guidance and God’s blessings are essential to cut the impurity veils. Therefore, God resides within the cool nectar pot where the impurities accumulate. By entering the wisdom entrance, we can reach the place where God resides. As the impurity veils block the wisdom entrance, God resides within the eyes to help us cut and overcome the action impurities. Hence, Thirumoolar says, “The eye shows and removes the impurities.”
Once we know the place where God resides, we can open the entrance and enter. When entering, if three beings obstruct, God, residing within, will burn them with his cool hands and forehead eye, making way for us to run towards him joyfully. During this blissful dance, the ten types of sounds will start resonating within the seeker. As the sounds resonate, the light energies within will melt and flow, leading to unparalleled bliss. This is called Nataraja’s dance by our Siddha masters. Thus, Thirumoolar says, “Melting from within, unmatched bliss.”
There are two types of heat: hot and cool heat. In Brama Gnana penance, cool heat should be felt, not hot. This is because, in Brama Gnana penance, the body starts filling with cool heat when fully absorbing the nectar air. The nectar air is cool heat. Thus, during early morning, Brama Muhurtha, the nectar air kisses the earth, making it cool. No one can deny this. Ozone is also a name for nectar air, but nectar air has higher electromagnetic life energies than ozone. Thus, nectar air is essential for purifying humans, attaining an eternal body, and obtaining deathless nectar. Hence, Thirumoolar says, “Placing the cool feet on the head as protection.”
By starting to absorb nectar air through the eyes, the veils of impurities in the eyes can be overcome and actions dissolved, says Thirumoolar, “Descending from the heavens, the body to refine.”
Absorbing nectar air through the eyes
Thus, only by absorbing nectar air through the divine feet (eyes) can actions causing birth be cut off, and Brama Gnana penance is the only way, which is the hidden secret revealed by this Thirumandiram verse.
